Abstract
The present work was carried out with the aim to throw light on the cytological and taxonomic situation in some Egyptian rodents . the study includes three species : Acomys cahirinus , Rattus rattus (R.r. alexandrinum and R.r. Frugivorus ) and Arvicanthis niloticus .
Direct chromosome preparations were obtained from the bone marrow after administration of colochicine in vivo .
Chromosome length was measured on tracings of enlarged projections of photographed cells and the ideogram was prepared for every species.
In addition,the karyotype was obtained by cutting the chromosomes from a photographic print and arranging them according to size and shape.
