Abstract

The main object of load frequency control is to keep the network frequency and the interchange power constant and within a pre-scheduled limit and equal to the nominal value when load or generation disturbances occurs in the system.
Due to complex nature of present day interconnected power systems controlling the system dynamics behaviour and maintaining it’s electrical energy at a desired operating level are complicated taskes to establish and execute.The electrical energy is characterised by nominal frequency voltage profile and load flow configutation energy level is kept in this nominal state by controlling the active and reactive power tp satisfy the power demand Pd and Qd.The power demands are slowly changing through the 24 hours of theday.
The overall control job was divided into 2 separate control channles.The power frequency channel and the reactive power-voltage channel,such as devision is logic since the response of the reactive power to voltage variations(via changing the excitation current if generators is very fast with respect to the active power response to frequency variations.
