Abstract

The present thesis gives detailed theoretical and experi¬mental investigations on Sampled-data control systems, also the previous studies and the main methods of analysis of linear and nonlinear Sampled•data control systems obtained by the previous authors are carefully discusses? detail.
In this thesis the State Transition Technique is used for the analysis of nonlinear Pulsejridth Pulse Amplitude (PWPA) modulated, Sampled-data control systems with variable sampling periods. The optimum control problem for nonlinear Sampled-data control systems is also discussed. The minimum time control of & oyclic-rate sampler shoifs that a linear second order control process can be taken from a given initial state to a given req¬uired state in two sampling periods only, while a nonlinear second order process needs more than two sampling periods. The minimum mean square error control problem is also solved for cyclic-rate Sampled-data systems using the principle of optima¬lity and the dynamic programming technique .
The thesis consists of tuo parts: Part one presents the previous literature of the subject together with some discuss¬ions when needed for clarification. A brief description of the sampling process and, the mathematical representation of the samp¬leT are given in chapter 1, while in chapter 2 the methods for the analysis of linear and nonlinear Sampled-date systems are discussed together with -the methods of testing the stability of
these system.
