Abstract The aim of this research work is to study the linear and non-linear behaviour of a system consisted of single skew slab with four supporting beams at the four edges. The main purpose of the investigation was to obtain useful experimental and theoretical data from the study of the influence of the main factors affecting the design of this type of skew slab, such as the skew angle and the rectangularity aspect ratios. An experimental program including nine reinforced concrete skew slabs supported on four edge beams was conducted. The tested slabs have different skew angles and aspect ratios. The recorded results mainly dealt with crack patterns deflections corner reactions and slab and beams strains. A limited parametric study has been carried out to assess the behaviour of skew slabs supported on beams considering the same parameters as in the experimental tests. The theoretical linear and non-linear analysis of skew slabs were carried out using a modified grillage analogy method.A computer program using such approach was developed and the results were compared to those obtained from the experimental results. |
