Abstract

he objective of the present study in this thesis is to evaluate
the effect of environmental conditions on ground water quality in
North Sinai.
The research plan started by selecting ten underground wells
representing El-Arish, other ten wells representing sheik Zoied, and
the other ten wells to represent Rafah. besides to include studying the
impact of the human activities on the underground water quality, five
wells were added in the vicinity of the waste water station out of EIArish,
another five wells in the vicinity of the slaughter house within
El-Arish, and finally another five wells in the vicinity of the food
canning factory at Rafah. Sites of these 45 selected wells were shown
on the enclosed maps. Meteorological records of North Sinai along the
year 2000 were tabulated across the four seasons. The parameters
recorded included temperature, vapour pressure, solar radiation,
evaporation transpiration, actual pressure, wind speed, and rain
precipitation.
The season of rain- fall mainly during winter and autumn is the
mam input source for renewal and dilution of the underground ground
water. The meteorological seasonal variations are expected to have
their impact on the underground water quality, and levels of chemical
contents.
