Abstract In the heavy water reactors, the heat transport system circulates heavy water coolant through few hundreds of fuel channels. The boundary conditions of the heat transport system are significantly influence the fuel performance in the fuel channels. On the other side, the fuel integrity is one of the major contributors to the safe functioning of the heat transport system. If the fuel operates beyond its designed safe limits, the sheath;barrier between fission products in the fuel and coolant;failure will be probable and significant consequences are expected to occur. The present study focuses on the modeling and analysis of fuel performance through statistical testing and mathematical simulation process. Therefore, the main objectives can be outlined as follows: i-Evaluates and discusses the physical processes that govern the fuel performance.Through the evaluation, thermal and mechanical correlations are revealed. ii-Declares the direct impact of heat transport boundary conditions on the fuel integrity. iii-Adopts and revises,if needed, appropriate mathematical models that fulfill objectives (I) and (II. IV- Constructs or adopts a computer code that carry out all computation involved in the mathematical models. V-Validates the computer code and analyzes the gathered data through some case studies. |
