Abstract The s t presen t ed in th is t hes is concer•n• the dynamics of pipesiconveying incompressible fluid where the pipesupported c,n <equa ll’::I-spaced elastic supports which exert both transverse and rotational restraints to the pipe motion . The Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and the plug flow model are used in modeling the pIpe and the flow, respectively. The wave appr’bach, ’Jhich relies mainlon the notion of the pr’opagation consta.nt, is followed to investigate both cases of steady and harmonically-perturbed In the case of effect of tt-le flow velocity, the fluid pressure, the fluid/pipe mass ratio, the rotational stiffness and the transverse rstiffness on the na.tural f r•equenc i es andthe ttolJndar’ies of tt’le clnset of the diver’gence instability a.r•e examined. Concerning the case of harmonically pert ur’bed flow, the ef f ec t of t he same paramet er’s on the region of pr’inciple is |
