Abstract
On November 14, 1981 an earthquake with magnitude of 5.3 (Ms) took place in Kalabsha area about 60 Km south of Aswan High Dam along the most active part of the E-W Kalabsha fault beneath the Kalabsha bay (the largest bay of the Lake Nasser).this earthquake was followed by a tremendous number of smaller events that continus till now.
many detailed geological and geophysical studies are carried out in the area.
