Abstract Aim of the work To review of recent literature on the topic of neuroprotection and its implications in the understanding and management of various neurological disorders. Conclusion Neuroprotective agents aim to prevent neuronal death in CNS injury, ischemia or neurodegeneration on a pathophysiological basis. Neuroprotective agents were shown to be effective in preventing or slowing the progression of neurological disorders in animal and preclinical studies, but only small numbers of them were shown to be effective in clinical trials. The field of neuroprotection is in need for further larger and more precise clinical trials that are devoid of the previous faults and trying to solve the previous difficulties to allow accessibility and prove efficacy of the neuroprotective agents. |
