Abstract In the present study, Damitta and Dakahlia Govemorates were investigated for brucellosis during the period between (2002-2003). Results showed that 7.6%,7.6% and 6.5% positive reactors for BAPAT, RBPT and Riv.T respectively in Damitta Govemorates while in Dakahlia Govemorates 2.4%, 2.4% and 2.04% respectively. Results revealed no single test was capable of conclusive diagnosis in all examined animals. Brucella melitensis biovar 3 was the sole type detected in this study which is considered the prevalent type of brucella among cattle in Egypt. In this study evaluation of the policy of test and slaughter, results revealed rapid elimination of positive cases eliminate the source of infection resulted in gradual decrease of reactors. Also early release of the farm out of the quarantine should be avoided and animals should be subjected for successive serological examination for detection of animals that may still incubating the diseases. Studying combined use of policy of test and slayghter and vaccination using RB5 I finding refer to failure of such step in control of brucella infection due to vaccination of animals which still incubating the disease or exposure to infection before development of |
