The terms ”quality of life” and, more specifically, ”health-related quality of life” refer to the physical, psychological, and social domains of health, are influenced by a person’s experiences, beliefs, expectations, and perceptions said Marcia and Donald 1996 Advances in medicine have prolonged the life of many people with chronic diseases. chronic diseases may not kill but they consume a lot of health care resources and threaten the quality of life of the sufferers (Cindy and Ian 2000)
Type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent) mellitus is one of the most complicated diseases managed in primary care. Therefore, ‘quality of life’ has to be an important factor in the evaluation of care.. (De Grauw et al; 1999)
This study aims to evaluate quality of life of adult diabetics type 2 in relation to sex, residence , level of education, income, social class ,duration of disease , body mass index, co-morbidity of hypertension , neuropathy and physical activity .
This study was cross sectional conducted in Zagazig hospital university in out patient clinic on 341 diabetic patients using two questionnaires the first is WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire to assess physical ,psychological, social and environmental aspects of quality of life .The second questionnaire was developed by the researcher to assess the socio demographic characteristics and asking for duration of the disease, performing of physical activity ,presence or absence of hypertension and neuropathy .Weight and height was measured to calculate body mass index.
