Abstract Flaxseed oil has been reported to have beneficial effects on many chronic diseases in human and animals.Besides, flaxseed oil has also received increasing attention for its potential role in preventing lipid disorders. However, some studies have shown that, whole flaxseed oil lower serum cholesterol in animal and human. So, this study aimed to identify the fatty acids composition of flaxseed oil.Assess the effect of flaxseed oil on blood indexes and body organs of experimental rats. Some other biochemical parameters as (liver and kidney)functions that concerning the experimental rats. Examine the effect of flaxseed oil on histopathology examination. All rats (30 rats)were fed on standard diet for one week before starting the experiment for acclimatization. After ten days of hyperlipidemic period, the rats were divided into five groups (6 rats each),all groups were feed for 28 days on experimental diet as follows: The first group:Rats fed on standard diet only as a control negative (healthy rats). The second group:Rats fed on standard diet only as a control positive (rats with hyper-lipidemic).The third group:Rats fed on standard diet containing 25%of flaxseed oil replaced by 10%of sunflower oil.The fourth group:Rats fed on standard diet containing 50%of flaxseed oil replaced by 10%of sunflower oil.The fifth group: Rats fed on standard diet containing 75%of flaxseed oil replaced by 10%of sunflower oil. Summary The obtained results can be summarized as follows: 1. Chemical composition of flaxseed: Chemical composition of flaxseed showed that contents of moisture was (6.30%),protein (23.64%),fat (38.57%),crude fiber (4.25%),ash (3.88%)and total carbohydrate (29.66%). 2. Fatty acids composition of flaxseed oil: Fatty acids composition of flaxseed oil were linolenic acid (58.20%),linoleic acid (17.86%),oleic acid (15.54%),stearic acid (2.97%),plamitic acid (5.16%)and palmitoleic acid (0.45%). |
