Abstract Aim of the work To assess the possible diagnostic and therapeutic role that could be fulfilled via ankle arthroscopy in patients suffering from chronic ankle pain. Conclusions 1- This study proves the efficient role of ankle arthroscopy in the diagnosis of certain obscure ankle disorders particularly talar dome ulcers. 2- Ankle arthroscopy plays mainly a therapeutic role in the management of various ankle disorders. 3- ankle arthroscopy plays an important role in the treatment of both soft tissue and bony impingement syndromes. 4- Arthroscopy produces permenant relieve for the patient complaining of loose bodies in the ankle. 5- Synovectomy of the ankle joint in a rheumatoid patient produces temporary relief of the patient symptoms. The joint of the rheumatoid ankle patient should not be destroyed to benefit from synovectomy; otherwise, arthrodesis would be the answer. 6- Early mobilization is highly recommended for the patient undergoing ankle arthroscopy in the post operative period. |
