Abstract 32 duplicate water and feed samples (16 each) as well as 48 duplicate samples of muscle, liver and fat (16 each) were collected from four broiler poultry farms located in Sharkia Governorate, during a period from July 1994 to July 1995. All samples were extracted, cleaned up and analyzed for detection and determination of organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticide residues. The obtained results were: 1- Pesticide residues in drinkin~ water of broilers: 1- Organochlorine residues in water samples revealed that the mean concentrations of BHC, lindane, heptachlor,. heptachlor epoxide, endrin, aldrin and total DDT were 2.8283, 0.0505, 0.3853, 0.2090, 0.0919, 0.0067 and 0.0633 ppb, respectively. Dieldin, p,p’-DDD and o,p’-DDT residues were not detected in examined water samples. All detected residues in water samples were higher in summer rather than winter. 4 (25%) out of 16 examined water samples had ~-BHC and heptachlor epoxide above the permissible. Also 15 (93.75%) and one (6.25%) of examined samples had heptachlor and endrin over the permissible limit. |
