Abstract -A linear analysis of the current - convective in- stability excited in inhomogeneous magnetized plasma studied for two different t emper-atur-e ranges : ( i ) hot ion plasma ( T» le ) and (ii) hot electron plasma ( 7;» T ). (. A dispersion equation describing each case is derived and solved analytically to obtain the threshold values, frequencies, growth rates and conditions of exci- tation of the instability. when We considered kinetic treatment of the problems much less than the electron current velocity 11. is ” thermal velocity • A comparison between the two cases (i) and (ii) with that for isothermal plasma is considered. The threshold current velocity of the instability in case of hot electron plasma found to be less than for isothermal and hot ion plasma. Besides, large dens- ity gradient leads to decreasing the growth rate. It is found also that gradual increasing of the ion temperature with respect to electron temperature will reduce the growth rate and hence stabilize the instability in the linear stage. . |
