Abstract
Ivomec F® is one of the broad spectrum anthelminitic drugs ciolicides and parasiticides) used in veterinary field.
The aim of the present work was to study some of the armacological effects of ivomec F® on male rats. Those were assessed evaluation of the haematological parameters, determination of some izymatic functions of liver and kidneys, and studying the histological anges induced by the drug.
In this work 40 mature male albino rats were divided into two equal roups each of 20 rats. The first group was injected subcutaneously with a g1e dose of Ivomec F® (ivermectin 0.35 mg/kg b.wt. and clorsulon 5mg/kg b.wt). The second group was kept as a control and injected with Iine. Five rats from each of the injected and control groups were icrified after 1st, 2nd 4th and 8’ week from drug administration.
The obtained results are summarized as follows
Reproductive studies:
1. The effect of Ivomec F® on weight of male reproductive ans and other organs of rat:
Rats injected subcutaneously with a single dose of Ivomec F®
hrsulon 3.5 mg/kg b.wt. and ivermectin 0.35 mg/kg b.wt.) showed a decrease in testes weight after 8th week,, in prostate gland
e after 2’, 4th and 8th week, in seminal vesicle weight after 2’ and th week, and in epididymal fat body weight after 4th week. Meanwhile,
here were no significant changes in the epididymis, liver, kidney and pleen weights post subcutaneous injection.
