Abstract The REEs have indeed become quite important and useful in many modern high tech industries as well as in the field of nuclear technology . This work is therefore concerned with individual separation of REEs from their concentrates prepared from some local ore materials. For this purpose and after a brief review of the different methods for the separation of the individual REEs , it was found that the band displacement technique using an ion exchange resin represent the main and unique commercals process actually applied for REE’s separation at the highest possible purity exceeding 99.99% . In fact,this process has been developed in USA since more than 50 years at Ames Laboratory of the A .E.C and at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory . Currently , it would be possible to separate a mixture of 15 REEs into individual compenents in one pass through this system . |
