Abstract

The present data showed that atherosclerosis is a multifactorial disease. Increased FR and lipid peroxides and decrease in NO and PGE2 generation contribute in the pathogensis of atherosclerosis. Pravastatin is the most effective antiatherosclerotic agent due to its multifactoria action followed by Nigella sativa and a high dose of vitamin C. so, it is recommended that Nigella sativa and antioxidant vitamins ( such as vitamin C, E, and A) should be added to synergize the antiatherogenic effects of statins and to reduce their side effects and cost of therapy.
