Abstract Rheumatic fever is the commonest cause o£ cardiovascular disease in children in Egypt. Next to arthritis, cardltis Is the most common presentation of rheumatic fever. Mitral regurgitation is the commonest finding in rheumatic carditis, it is also the commonest sequelae after the acute attack is over. Many studies reported that mitral regutgitatlon frequently disappears, clinically, usually regress, and seldom worsens* In the view o£ the addition of doppler echocardlography as a sensitive diagnostic technique in valvular lesions, we have attempted to evaluate the mitral valve by doppler echo-cardiography in patients who have lost their classic mitral regurgltation murmur. Thirty one patients with clinically improved MR were included in this study. Their mean age was 12.5 ±_ 2.99 years, Tuenty patients with persistent Mft whose mean age was ll.fi +. 3,35 years were also included in the study. Finally tventy iive normal children were included as normal controls* |
