Abstract

High density polyethylene in-house scrap generated from the production lines have been reintroduced into the same or similar types of products for many years in the plastics industry.Use of plastics wastes often referred to post consumer reclaim(PCR).Detergent and milk bottles are used in several applications in the blow modeling industry.This research aimed towards enhancing the use of blow moldinggrade in-house HDPE and PCR HDPE for blow molding applications.The main objective of this study was investigate the acceptable concentration of the in-house HDF
PE in blow molding grade mixed PCR and virgin HDPE in terms of processability.mechanical and rheological properties.
In this study it was noticed that the mechanical and rheological properties exhibited no significant change as the concentration of in-house HDPE was varied in mixed PCR and virgin HDPE.The yield strength,break strength,elongation at break,tensile modulus ,hardness,and impact tests were not significantly affected as the natural resin and molded samples for in-house HDPE,PCR-HDPE and virgin HDPE blends are increased with different ratios.
