Abstract In the present work, the neuromuscular blocking activity hexachiorophene, niclofolan, nitroxynil and rafoxanide was udied. The relation between this activity and their mode of on Fasciola gigantica worms was also investigated. In 1’ttion, the effect of these fasciolicides on the isolated re Fasciola gigantica worms and its cholinesterase activity The obtained results are summarized below: ts of fasciolicides on the neuromuscular junction: “ts on the isolated muscle and nerve preparations: • Effects on the chick biventor cervicis muscle preparation : Hexachioropherie, (3 ug./ml.), niclofolan (I ug./ml.) and troxynil (10 ug./ml.) induced a stimulatory effect in the orce of contraction of the muscle. This effect wa followed by atalysis of the muscle. Rafoxanide in a dose of 10 ug./ml. indu— ed an initial stimulation in the muscle oontractior followed In the present investigatiou a new modified method for bcording the normal twitches of the muscles of the upper lip the effects of these fascioliiidal drugs upon them was volved. For this method, anaesthetised horses, dogs, rabbits, ,Inea pigs and rats w3re used. 4 |
