In the present investigation aimed at examining the possible nutritional and biochemical evaluation of Citrullus colocynthis melon extract.
Four main sets of experiments were performed. The first one carried out to evaluate the possible nutritional value of Citrullus colocynthis fruits as well as to study chemical and physicochemical properties of Citrullus colocynthis seeds using standard methods, in order to test the seeds as candidates of potential new oil seed crop in halayp-a crop adapted to arid zones.
The seeds of Citrullus colocynthis were analysed for chemical, physicochemical and phytochemical properties using standard methods, to determine the seeds contained from moisture, ash, protien, fiber, lipid, carbohydrate, phosphorus, and calcium. Physicochemical characters of the seeds were evaluated such as a pH value. Other physical characters include specific gravity, titratable acidity, total soluble solids and refractive index.
