Abstract
As a result, of the great deal of attention and interest which has been recently directed toward the study of free radicals, lipid peroxidation product and the possible role of antioxidants. This work was designed to throw further light on the possible scavenger effect of three naturally occurring products, Garlic, Ginseng and Wheat germ oil in normal and Benzo-a-pyrene stressed rats. The present study deals with the following parameters as: 1- Serum bilirubin (Total, Direct and Indirect bilirubin), 2- Glutathione status (hepatic total glutathione, hepatic reduced glutathione and hepatic oxidized glutathione), 3- Hepatic glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px), 4-Hepatic Glutathione reductase (GSH-R), 5- Hepatic superoxide dismutase (SOD), 6- Hepatic catalase (CAT), 7- Hepatic Glucose -o-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-Ph-D) , 8- Hepatic
malondialdehyde (MDA), 9- Serum nitric oxide (NO), 10- Serum insulin, 11- Serum cortisol. A total of 128 adult male albino rates (180±20 gm body weighting) were used in the present study. The experimental animals were randomly divided into 8 main groups. Group I: received normal diet (control group). Group 2: received Garlic daily. Group 3: received Ginseng daily.
