Abstract A) In the present study, examination of cattle and buffaloes in Sidi Salem centre revealed the presence of tick species of only family Ixodidae. Only one species of Ixodida ticks were recorded among cattle and buffaloes during the whole period of examination, (from Sept. 85 till Aug. 1986). Identification of the collected material proved thatcattle and buffaloes were infested with .anrrnlatus. Moreover, examination of 448 cattle and 632 buffaloes revealed that the percentage of tick infestation was higher in cattle (18.3 %) than in buffaloes (10 %). Concerning animal sex and age the rate of infestation of ticks was higher in males than in females. The predilection seats exhibited by Boophi]us nnulatus among cattle and buffaloes were the ventral side of the body, although in heavy infestation the parasites were recorded from allover the body. |
