Abstract Hepatitis C virus is a major causative agent of chronic liver (CLD). In HCV, some hepatocytes die of apoptosis wing typical morphological changes and referred to as )optotic bodies (acidophilic or councilman bodies). In viral the liver is infiltrated with cytotoxic T lymphocytes nat can induce apoptosis of hepatocytes and are thought to a crucial role in clearance of virus-infected hepatocytes. rforin and Fas-based mechanisms account for all T vmphocytes mediated cytotoxicity. Fas is expressed on ytes and it is up regulated in accordance with the everity of liver inflammation. When HCV-specific T cells ‘rate into hepatocytes and recognize the viral antigen via T J receptors, they become activated and express Fas L that in transduce the apoptotic death signal to Fas expressing ocytes. Thus Fas system plays an important role in liver Lell injury by HCV infection.Bcl-2 is a protein that plays, in a number of conditions, a otective role against apoptosis mainly by controlling the ease of cyt-c and other mitochondrial apoptotic events. |
