Abstract The aim of this study is to elucidate the subjective and objective efficacy of ozone therapy on type2 diabetic patients with peripheral neuropathy. The present study was performed on 15 patients diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes mellitus with diabetic peripheral neuropathy from diabetes and endocrinology out-patient clinic of Ain Shams University Hospital and Al Haram Hospital(Ministry of Health and Population). This study was done during the period from November 2007 to July 2008. All the patients in the study were subjected to full history, clinical examination, assessment of fasting blood sugar, Hba1c, serum urea, creatinine, urine analysis, albumin/creatinine ratio and fundus examination, all this was done before starting the sessions of ozone therapy. UK screening test and nerve conduction study were done for all the patients and were repeated after 10 sessions of different modalities of ozone therapy to detect if there is any improvement in the parameters of the nerve conduction study that may be parallel to the clinical improvement by the UK screening test. |
