Abstract

I vermectin (a mixture of 22, 23 dihydroavermectin B 1 a with minor
amounts of 22, 23 dihydroavermctin BIb) is one of the most successful
veterinary antipariasitic drugs. It has parasitocidic activity and is used as
the main substances of insectoacaronematocids. In humans I vermectin is
the drug of choice for the treatment of onchocerciasis (African fever
blinders and lymphatic filariasis).
Clorsulon (Clorsulon has a chemical structure of 4-amino- 6- trichloroethenyl- 1.3- benzenedi-Sulfonamide), It is the most Potent
fashiolicide drug. This work was conducted to evaluate the possible effect of the two
drugs, given either singly or in combination on developing rat foeti.
The effect of therapeutic dose of Ivermectin and/or Clorsulon on reproductive efficiency of female rats:
Seventy mature pregnant rats were divided into seven groups each
of ten animals. The first group was used as control. The second group
was subcutaneously injected with therapeutic dose of ivermectin
0.2mg/200 gm B.wt. on the 6th day of gestation, the third group was
subcutaneously injected ~ith the same dose of clorsulon 0.2mg/200 gm
B.wt. on 6th day of gestation., the fourth group was injected
subcutaneously with therapeutic dose of (Ivrmectin/ Clorsulon) 0.2mg/
200 gm B.wt. on the 6th day of gestation. The fifth group was injected
subcutaneously with therapeutic dose of Ivermectin 0.2/200 gm Bwt. on
the lOth day of gestation., the sixth group was injected subcutaneously
with therapeutic dose of clorsulon 0.2mg/ 200 gm B. wt on the lOth day of
