Abstract
This study was carried out on 300 cattle and 252 buffaloes for the presence of C. bovis as well as F. gigantica in Menoufia Governorate. The infection rate were 10.7 and 3.2% with C. bovis while those of F. gigantica were 35.3 and 13.5% in cattle and buffaloes, respectively.
By ELISA the sensitivity of C. bovis was 100% while the specificity of C. bovis antigen was 85% .
By SDS-PAGE C. bovis revealed four bands with molecular weights of 65, 47.5, 31 and 18 kDa .
By Western blot revealed that two bands of 31 and18 kDa gave 100% sensitivity and specificity beside band of 65 and 47.5 kDa were detected in 60% of bovine cysticercosis and 65 kDa give heterologus immunity with bovine fascioliosis indicated the cross reactivity between two parasites under study.
