Abstract

Toxocariasis, is considered as one of the major parasitic problems that has a huge zoonotic importance allover the world especially in the underdeveloped countries, as it facilitates easier ways to several economic losses. Consequently, control of such problem is the goal of task by achieving accurate diagnosis and application of appropriate vaccine production.
For this purpose, 12 male New Zealand rabbits were divided into 4 equal groups; the first was inoculated with 10000 embryonated Toxocara vitulorum eggs, then immunized with antigen derived from infective eggs (containing second larval stage), this group is considered as Toxocara vitulorum immunized group. The second group, was inoculated only with Freund’s adjuvant without challenge or immunization and considered as control adjuvant group. The third was administered only with the same dose of infective Toxocara vitulorum eggs and considered as control positive infected group. Finally, the fourth group was inoculated with Toxocara canis infective eggs in the same dosage also. Then, all these groups underwent ELISA for detection of serum antibodies, followed by fractionation of the used antigen protein by using Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) to detect the specific bands used for diagnosis, as well as application of Western Blot to detect the specific epitopes of the determined antigen that can be used for accurate diagnosis.
