Abstract

The scope of this investigation is oriented to provide a discussion of the dynamic response analysis of bridges subjected to earthquake load The vertical components of EL-Centro and Petrolia Earthquakes are considered in this study.
‎Transfer matrix method, with Newmark ~ direct integration method are used to determine the dynamic response of various types of bridges The bridges are modeled as
‎simply supported beams
‎and continuous beams. The frequency domain analysis
‎achieved by using Fast Fourier Transform
‎The variation of the response with the variation of parameters such as the fundamental natural frequency, length, and flexibility of the beam have been discussed, and these parameters can be significant in order is to avoid the dominant frequency of the earthquake Time lag between support’s motion introduced to examine the effect of variation of ground motion on the response of the structure.
‎The results of the study indicate that, the reduction in structural response due to earthquake effect is greater for structures with a high natural frequency, and the time lag effect between the supports motion give small dynamic response for some beams, when compared with the assumption of the same excitation at all supports.
‎The combined earthquake with vehicle loads affect the dynamic response of beam were studied.
