Abstract

React I vet power control plays an important, roll, in providing continuous voltage control and .nuancing system dynamic stability. Due to saver al di .t tar banc.. in power system the synchronous goner actor rotor angle and .p.m.. and system vole tag. surfer from oscillations, Dynamic actability and dynamic voltage. control require the positive damping et these oscillations. as the pry emeries of them may lead to ii ail tat ion of power transfer capability in lines, and malfunction of important loads. Excitation control systems CECS’s) of synchronous generators, can b. controlled to provide the, r .qui r .d terminal vole tag. and increase system damping. Static VAR compensator. CSVC’s) sr. fast-response devices which are .v.1 y used for static and dynamic voltage control in power systems. the other hand, if static VAR compensator. are properly controlled damping of oscillations is increased, power transfer and dynamic stability are enhanced. Thus the .f fee t. of ECS’. and SVC s on damping nag I enragement is i rwa.tl gated A. the trend the inter connected power systems increases power systems are becoming large systemic. and the control of them becomes a rat her complex J ob. Dynamic inter act I on. between the machines Cross the interconnection, network ekes and should be properly modeled. Large seal. dynamic system control strategies such as decentralized and hierarchical are very important in the control arid particular optimal control of large interconnected power systems. A survey and discussion of these control strategies have been made. The application of theme control strategies requires the apçxoprt ate model of the overall system and decomposing it into subsystems. Thu.. a linearized model in state-space. form for multi-machine power system including SYC’s, is developed. The advantage of this .l t. that it explicitly expresses the interaction between subsystems, in each subsystem moda This work is an attempt to apply the hierarchical control strategy to both the excitation and SVC’s, in multi-machine interconnected power system, for providing cent j nous vole t age cent r el and enhancing dynamic stability of the system. To the author’s best k now edge. there is riot such an attempt has been published A comparative study of the different control strategies applied to the power system has been carried-out This, work proposes a hierarchical C two-level) contrail I .r.
