Abstract The diagnosis of RVH in children is of major importance because it is potentially curable. Although renal arteriography remains the reference standard for diagnosis and planning of surgical intervention, the invasive nature and high cost don’t warrant its routine use as a screening test. So it is important to establish whether Doppler ultrasound, a safe and noninvasive method, is sufficiently accurate to detect RAS in hypertensive children, thus allowing a reliable selection of patients for arteriography. |
