Abstract

ABSTRACT
Damage of concrete structures due to fires is one of the most concerns with respect to building integrity and human safety. High performance concrete (HPC) has been shown to have greater risks of deterioration during fire exposure compared to prdinary Portland cement concrete(OPC). As self-compacted concrete(SCC) typically falls within the HPC definitions, the same HPC conditions are applies when SCC is susceptible to fire damage . Reinforced self-compacted concrete exposed to fire may be damaged because of (the decrease of strength and stiffness of reinforcement bars, the decrease of strength of concrete, explosive spalling, loss of bonding between concrete and reinforcement……….etc).
There is a great importance to produce SCC with good fire resistance which is one of the main objectives of this thesis.
The work presented in this research includes an experimental and theoretical study of plan and reinforced self-compacted concrete. The main objective of the experimental work is to investigate the detailing problem og high temperature on the behavior and the strength of plain and reinforced beam-column connections cast with self-compacted concrete. Also the study extends to protect these elements against high temperature.
