Abstract

Etched nucler track detectors are widely used in a variety of applications throughout the field of radition dosimetry measurement. In the present work, Poleythylene terepthalate (PET) nuclear track detectors of thicknesses 12 and 9 m were used. Fission fragments and 40Ar ions were used in this study to irradiate these detecators, respectively. Etching was carried out using an electrolytical controlled etching (ECE) cell. The electrolytical etching unit was designed and constructed in our laboratory. It cosists of a simusoidal low voltge, a low frequency power supply (function generator) and ECE cell foor the use in eletrolytical etching of heavy ionized particle tracks in plastic detectors.
