Abstract T urbo codes are considered as one of the most important error-correcting codes, which are used in wireless communication systems Turbo codes t are distinguished with their efficient performance Scientific researches are conducted to apply turbo codes in third generation (3G) mobile systcms. Turbo codes have great capability to correct the errors In the transmitted codes, especially 111 fading channels; that can be done with nlllllmum transmitted power. The hard decision Viterbi decoder IS performed considering the likelihood decision rule Also the burst of errors and its effect when using hard decision decoder is discussed The performance of turbo codes in A WGN channel using a MA TLAB computer simulation program is performed; it shows the main parameters which affect the turbo codes performance such as the number of iterations used in dec;Jding process, the frame size of the input data, and the generator polynomials used in the component codes. Different interleaving methods are eXplained and the performance of turbo codes using these different techniques is investigated The different trellis terminations are also discussed with using the suitable interleaving method The BER performance of turbo codes using different trellis termination and different interleaving methods is studied with GMSK and QPSK modulations. |
