Abstract Diabetes mellitus is a common chronic health problem. It is a clinical syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia due to diminished or deficient effectiveness of insulin. The disease affecting the metabolism of carbohydrate, fat and protien. Diabetes mellitus can potentially affect untreated; it can be life threatening (Reeves, 1999). This study was carried out at the diabetic center in Shebin El-kom. The sample included 100 diabetic patients (adult, both sexes and not accompanied by other disease). The sample divided equally into 2 groups : A. control group: this group will be observed and managed according to routine management given by the center. B. Experimental group: this group will be managed according to the designed instructional intervention. AIM OF THE STUDY The aim of the present study is to identify effect of instructional intervention on knowledge and practice of diabetic patients through: 1. Assess patients knowledge and practice of diabetic patients regarding diabetes and its management. 2. Development and implementing of an instructional intervention for diabetes about diabetes and its management. 3. Determining the effect of instructional intervention on knowledge and practice of diabetic patients concerning diabetes and its management. |
