The present study aimed to find out interaction patterns among patients in psychiatric wards; to identify factors affecting these interaction patterns ; and to identify nurses; physicians, auxiliaries, and patients opinions about kind of interaction. This study was carried at Tanta psychiatric Hospital. All private and gratis wards were used for this study. It included 30 nurses, 10 physicians and 10 auxiliaries. Moreover, 50 patients interacting with the previous staff members were included. Two types of instruments were used for data collection : a base data from and observational form. The main significant findings of the present were as follows : - The mean score for emotional interaction was 52+-16.27 among nurses, 20+-11.55 among physicians and 51+-11.01 among auxiliaries. - The mean score for social interaction was 41.88+-10.47 in low interaction number, 50.88+-12.15 in high interaction number. - The mean score for emotional interaction was 38.33+-21.20 among health care providers who were qualified in psychiatry, compared with 51.92+-41.70 among health care providers who were not qualified in psychiatry.The present study concluded that interactions of all health care providers in Tanta psychiatric Hospital are below the required and the mean scores of all types of interactions are low .
