Abstract
This study was carried out at the diabetic center in Shebin Elkom. The sample included 100 diabetic patients ( Adult, both sexes and not accompanied by other disease ) . The aim of this study is to determine factors affecting compliance with therapeutic diet in adult diabetic patients through identification of the following : 1- Knowledge of adult diabetic patients about diet therapy in diabetes . 2- Socie economic standards of diabetic patients and their affect on diet. 3- Habits and beliefs of these patients in using diet therapy. Tools of the study : An interview sheet, Socie economic standards. The following are recommended : - Developing dietary program for diabetic patients.- simple booklet with simple explanation of the disease and its management should be available for these patients.- Establishment of nutritional information center. - Dietitian system in diabetic center and out patients hospitals clinics must be found.- There should be social worker and financial support for these patients when needed.
