Abstract

In this thesis a new approach for the analysis of the load of a single pile embedded in cohesionless soil into its two components, friction and end-bearing, is presented by using the finite segment method. this approach considers the pile to be an end bearing friction pile. the net displacement of a point on the pile shaft is the sum of tip displacement, elastic shortening of pile and settlement of surrounding soil adjacent to the pile at this point. the relations are developed from results of several investigations. to obtain the force equilibrium equation at a considered point, each displacement and settlement terms is substituted by the corresponding forces, 50 nonlinear equations are obtained. since a set of equations of third order appear. newtonraphson’s method is used to solve it. the program is excuted for different values of pile load, geometrical properties of pile and soil properties. the effect on the resulting loads is investigated. several relations are given in graphical and equation form
