Abstract
This study is a case control study. It was conducted in the Antenatal Clinic, Antenatal Department and the Casualty Room in Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital from June 2006 to October 2006 to evaluate the level of total plasma carnitine in preeclampsia in relation to normal pregnancy. It included sixty pregnant women. They were divided into three groups.
Group1: it was included 20 women with mild preeclampsia.
Group2: it was included 20 women with severe preeclampsia.
Group3: (Control group) it was included 20 women with healthy uncomplicated pregnancy matched for gestational age.
