Abstract thesis discusses a knowledge - based approach to the production planning (APP) problem, the process of an aggregate production plan that meets product family fluctuating demand and monthly required safety by applying a mixed APP strategies (using overtime, workforce, backordering , subcontracting and level ig ) and seeking to achieve the main objective of ly’s production management whether to try to reduce costs or increase internal resources utilization as much as The proposed knowledge based approach is a possible itive to traditional operational research methods . The m AP planning rules, APP strategies rules, heuristic rules, constraint rules covering workforce, overtime, infracting , backordering and capacity are incorporated a knowledge base in order to arrive to a feasible production that meets production management objective and is renient to company’s production and financial policies , The proposed KBS model for APP , and a prototype of : proposed model are described. The powerful object oriented knowledge base developing Kappa-PC was used in developing the aggregate production ig knowledge base. The APP KB consists of the planning ;ss knowledge and the procedural Knowledge. The procedural knowledge consists of about 136 common planning rules , APP strategies rules , heuristic rules, lint rules, functions, methods and explanation rules. |
